It is my great pleasure to introduce the website of BCMEA (Bangladesh Ceramic Manufacturers and Exporters Association), the only well-organized associate body of the Ceramic Industry in Bangladesh.

The ceramics industry now has great prospects in manufacturing in Bangladesh. Over the years the industry has flourished immensely. While it caters to 85 percent of the local demand, also exports quality ceramic products to international markets. The growth trend is an indication of the industry's potential to be one of the top foreign exchange earners in the country.

Bangladesh Ceramic industry started its journey in 1959 with the establishment of a small manufacturing plant for porcelain tableware by Tajma Ceramic Industries in Bogura. Currently, there are more than 60 ceramic manufacturers in the country. And another 20 are to enter the market soon. The local ceramics industry mainly produces tiles, tableware and sanitary ware and the yearly capacity in tableware is 250 million pieces, tiles is 120 million square meters and sanitary ware is 7.5 million pieces. Value addition in ceramics stands at nearly 65 percent. Due to the recent demand for quality ceramic products all major Bangladeshi ceramic companies have expanded their plants and operations and are actively exploring advanced ceramic products such as industrial ceramics for spinning and textile factories, medical ceramics, ceramic plates for bulletproof jackets, and so on. The investment and production growth of the industry has increased by 200 percent in the last 10 years.

Currently, more than 50,000 people directly and 5,00,000 people indirectly are engaged in the local ceramics industry.
